Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles for Rent - Aged Care

Group Outings, Without the Logistics Headache

Getting residents out for the day shouldn’t be the hard part. Wheelaway offers wheelchair accessible vehicles for rent to aged care homes and community groups across Victoria and NSW, with over 15 years of experience helping activities coordinators plan group outings that everyone can genuinely take part in – wheelchair users and ambulant residents alike.

We’re a family run business — our founder started Wheelaway after her husband’s mum developed MS, and several of our own family members and staff have lived experience of disability. That’s the understanding your residents and your staff can expect every time.

Built for Group Outings

Seat Everyone Together

Our fleet mixes wheelchair spaces with standard seating in the same vehicle, so residents don't need to be split up or travel separately based on mobility.

Multiple Vehicles, One Booking

Larger outings? Hire as many vehicles as your group needs — we'll coordinate them together for the day.

Room for Staff Too

There's space for facility staff to come along, whether that's driving the vehicle themselves or riding alongside our driver.

A Fleet That Suits the Occasion

From an intimate outing in a Kia Carnival to a larger group in our Toyota Commuter or Mercedes Sprinter — we'll help match the right vehicle to your group size.

Comfort & Dignity, Every Trip

Never Rushed

Boarding, transfers and settling in take as long as they take — our drivers work at your residents' pace, not the clock's.

Climate Controlled

Every vehicle is air conditioned, so residents stay comfortable regardless of the weather outside.

Gentle, Careful Assistance

Our drivers are experienced with frail and elderly passengers, not just wheelchair transfers — helping with genuine patience and care.

A Fleet to Suit the Group

From a Kia Carnival for a smaller outing to a Mercedes Sprinter or Toyota Commuter for a larger group — see our full fleet here.

What Coordinators Can Expect

  • 1

    Drivers Who Don't Rush

Elderly residents move at their own pace — our drivers understand that transfers and boarding take time, and that's fine.

  • 2

    Straightforward Communication

You're planning for a group, not just one person — we keep the details clear and easy to coordinate on your end.

  • 3

    Familiarity, Outing After Outing

For facilities with a regular activities calendar, we get to know your residents and routine — making each booking easier than the last.

What Families Say

★★★★★

"Thank you, the car was brilliant! Allowed us to get our 101 year old grandmother to her son-in-law's memorial service and wake without having to rely on maxi cabs. So glad we found your business!"

Katrina
★★★★★

"Thank you Wheelaway!! The Van was so easy to drive. It was nice to have that freedom for the last 2 weeks to take my Mum (who is bedridden) out and about in her power wheelchair and enjoy the holidays with family and not having to worry about calling a Maxi Cab."

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we book multiple vehicles for a group outing?

Yes — hire as many vehicles as your group needs for the day.

Do you offer regular, recurring bookings for our activities calendar?

Yes, that's not a problem at all — we're happy to work around a regular outing schedule.

Do you offer invoicing for facilities?

Yes — once we've built a relationship with your facility, we can invoice after the service is completed rather than requiring upfront payment. We already do this for a number of aged care partners.

Can facility staff accompany residents on the vehicle?

Yes — staff are welcome to either drive the vehicle themselves (a full licence and being over 25 is all that's required, no special licence needed) or simply ride along as a passenger alongside our driver.

What's included in the price?

Every hire includes unlimited kilometres, an eTag for toll roads, and full comprehensive insurance.
