Wheelchair Disability Transport Services in Melbourne
We are a NDIS registered provider, supplying wheelchair accessible vehicle hire services to businesses and individuals with special needs.
We have a fleet of vehicles that you can hire from. Click here to view more details. We pride ourselves on keeping our vehicles clean and safe for use, and we provides e-tags and all the necessary insurance and registration for the vehicles.
As a family run business, and having family members and staff with a disability, we pride ourselves on our passion and care for those with special needs. Everyone in our business has a strong passion and care to help others and we seek to provide a services that is flexible, safe, and caring.
Having maintained our business for 10+ years, we have a lot of experience and understanding for working with people with complex needs, and how to navigate different government funding models, including the NDIS.
We seek to create a country that is fully accessible for all, and where everyone has the independence and opportunity to live a normal life.

The Australian Grand Prix (7 years now!), World Superbikes, Spring Racing Carnival, Australian Open and President’s Cup Golf Tournament are just some of the events we have provided disability transport services to in the past year.

Our self-drive disability transport hire is the perfect solution for people with disability who wish to travel with comfort and ease, or large groups of people needing a transport solution.
OUR STORY
Dianne and Paul started the business in 2008 after experiencing first-hand the need for accessible transport. Paul grew up with his mother who had MS, which is a rare condition from the 60s. Whilst, Dianne has a son with short stature and has cared for her parents who have both had cancer on several occasions and her dad contracted Guillian Barre twice.
The idea eventuated when Paul’s mum became wheelchair bound and they needed to move her out of her nursing home. Taxis were unreliable and so they bought a vehicle to run her around. Through talking to people in the community and hearing that others were struggling with the same issue they decided to begin a part time business. With the support of Dianne and demand growing, the business has flourished and Wheelaway is now operating in both Victoria and New South Whales.

As a family- run business that truly cares we pride ourselves on keeping our wheelchair accessible vehicles clean, roadworthy, and well-looked after to ensure a comfortable and safe drive for our customers. With 10+ years experience, and having friends and friends with a disability, we understand first-hand the complex needs of people with a disability and strive to provide a service that truly takes care for people where they are at!
Toyota Commuter
This van comes with a hydraulic lift so you can easily and quickly move the person with disability into the van without straining any muscles or energy, and 4 locks to holster the wheelchair into the van.
Can seat 1-2 wheelchairs and 6-8 passengers and can withstand a max weight of 350kilos including the wheelchair.
VW Caddy
Can seat 1 wheelchair and 4-5 passengers and can withstand a weight of 300 kilos including the wheelchair.
Kia Carnival
This van comes with a ramp to wheel the person with disability into the van, and 4 locks to holster the wheelchair in the van.
Can withstand a max weight of 300 kilos including the wheelchair and can seat 1 wheelchair and 4-5 passengers.
