Over the weekend our dedicated and committed team had the privilege of working at the Melbourne Superbikes, transporting people with mobility issues around the track. We have been attending the World SuperBikes for over 10 years and each year we see an increase in people with mobility issues who request our service.
We have seen this at every event we have been attending over the last 15 years.
This year was particularly good, especially compared to the last few years which were fraught with lockdowns and storms. Each day was filled with a roaring amount of adrenalin, excitement, and smiles.
Our Mornings
Located, at the popular tourist destination Phillip Island, the scenery was something else. As a team, we stayed at an Airbnb, and each morning we woke up bright and early and drove along this stunning scenery on the way to the tracks. It was a great way to start the day!
What was it like for our Drivers?
When we arrived at the tracks, we made our way to gate 1 where our office was located and from here we were able to move people to their different destinations.
Claudia, a driver who has been with us for years, wrote “it was a great weekend, we transported some wonderful people, was very busy but also lots and lots of fun.” Narelle and Claudia were driving people with mobility issues around the track whilst Rod and Hermann were driving the Martials and VIPs in shuttle buses around and inside the track, as well as through the transport tunnel.
Narelle, another driver wrote ” To be part of the Wheelaway family is nothing short of amazing. Wheelaway supports many major events – one of which is the Superbikes at Phillip Island, which is a major drawcard for so many people across the globe. 🌎 To provide such an awesome service for people to access the event is extremely rewarding. I have met so many amazing people who have become regulars across numerous major events we support. They are so thankful and show their appreciation over and over every year. To have so much fun working with thousands of people across the weekend is a blessing. 🏍️

A story of one Passenger
One memorable moment from the weekend was when we helped a young racing enthusiast named Liam, who was in a wheelchair, get up close to the track for the first time. His eyes sparkled with excitement as he felt the vibrations of the superbikes thundering by. It was a heartwarming reminder of why we do what we do. 😊
