1. Art Gallery of NSW

One of Sydney’s major art museums, with a broad collection of Australian and international works.

The gallery is committed to providing access to their collections and exhibitions for all audiences. All areas of the gallery are physically accessible, and their access programs and events create opportunities for focused encounters with art through visual, auditory, tactile and other sensory experiences.

There are three dedicated accessible parking spaces with access from the curb in front of the Art Gallery. Two of these spaces are at the front of Naala Nura. One is in front of Naala Badu, and is available during Art Gallery opening hours.

Please note: Members lounge and library are currently unavailable due to works on their lift. This means the paid lecture series happening in the main theatre is currently not wheelchair accessible. See here for updated information.

There are various accessible bathrooms located in different sections of the buildings.

They have wheelchairs and mobility scooters available for use within the Art Gallery for free. You’ll be asked for some form of ID.

2. Sea Life

SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium has been open since 1988 and is home to thousands of fish and other sea creatures representing Australia’s different water habitats.

They strive to make their attraction as accessible as possible to all of our guests!

The aquarium is wheelchair accessible throughout the attraction, however, please be advised that, due to the steepness of their ramps that lead down to their deeper oceanariums, wheelchair users may find they require extra assistance. As there are also some narrow turning spaces, electronic scooters are not permitted to enter these sections (Shark Valley and Dugong Island) of the attraction. Their friendly Admissions Team would be happy to provide you with a complimentary manual wheelchair and hold onto your electronic scooter during your visit.

There are accessible toilets available for your convenience which are located at the entrance to the aquarium, in the middle after the Gentoo and King Penguins and at the exit near the gift shop.

SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium offers free entry to carers or essential companions of those with disabilities. We accept the national Companion Card.

3. Sydney Zoo

Sydney Zoo is home to over 4,000 animals from around the world, including an open-range Australian habitat where kangaroos and wallabies roam freely alongside the walking paths.

Take a stroll down the African Boardwalk where you’ll see scenes from the savannah in the remarkable mixed-species habitats, wander down the leafy Primate Boulevard, and be mesmerised by the animals of south-east Asia.

Get closer to all your favourite Australian natives in the beautiful open-range Australia habitat, where kangaroos and wallabies hop freely around the meandering pathways.

All public areas and exhibits are accessible by wheelchair or mobility scooter. The zoo is flat with wide pathways that span across the zoo, making your visit easy. In fact, they have no stairs in the entire zoo!

They have concession rates and offer free tickets to companion holders.

4. Circular quay and the rocks

Circular Quay and The Rocks sit right on Sydney Cove, within walking distance of the harbour, historic cobblestone streets and views of the Harbour Bridge.

The area is committed to accessibility, welcomes feedback and wants everyone to explore, enjoy, and immerse themselves in the unique charm of this iconic precinct.

All these parking stations have accessible car spots.

Accessible activities include a ferry to manly beach, a stroll around the circular quay and the rocks, dinner or lunch at the opera bar, shopping at the historic queen Victoria building, and a 360 view from Sydney Tower Eye. Please note: you will need to call each of these places to ensure it meets your unique accessibility requirements.

5. Hyde Park Sydney

Hyde Park is Australia’s oldest park, spanning 16 hectares in the centre of Sydney, home to the Anzac Memorial and the Archibald Fountain.

There are disabled public toilet facilities which are coin operated (50 cents to open).

As you enter the Anzac Memorial building from this side there is a lift to your left which takes you to the upper level and an Exhibition centre to your right which has displays about many of the wars Australia has been involved in over the years.
